Fallon Sherrock failed to earn a PDC Tour Card at Q-School on Friday but remains in the mix ahead of the weekend | News about darts
Fallon Sherrock failed to earn a PDC Tour Card at the Q-School in Milton Keynes on Friday, losing at the last 32 stage but remains in the mix.
The 30-year-old sits 19th on the Order of Merit list at the halfway stage ahead of the weekend, two points and a wide leg gap from 12th.
However, other recognizable names such as Mervyn King, Simon Whitlock and Beau Greaves need big performances over the last two days to stand any chance, while former Scottish World Cup winner John Henderson is well placed in third on the Order of Merit and has all but secured a Tour Card .
On Friday, Kai Gotthardt and Justin Hood were the latest players to secure their PDC Tour Cards.
Day two of the final stage at the European Qualifying School saw the rising Gotthardt secure his first Tour Card, following an impressive debut at the World Darts Championship last month.
The German secured his place on the professional circuit with a decisive leg win over compatriot Steven Noster in Friday’s decider in Kalkar.
Hood, meanwhile, won his final bout against Bradley Brooks at the UK Qualifying School to confirm his status as a Tour Card holder for the first time in his career.
Brooks lost 6-5 to Tom Bissell in Thursday’s final and history repeated itself at Arena MK when Hood fired 14 darts to defy a late comeback from the former world junior champion.
Sherrock lost 6-2 to Daniel Perry in the 162 final, having previously beaten Keenan Thomas 6-3 and Rhys Peris Davies 6-1, while Greaves fell at the first hurdle, 6-4 to Tavis Dudeney.
Whitlock also bowed out early after losing 6-4 to Mark McGeeney and Mervyn King crashed out in the last 32 after losing 6-4 to Jamie Atkins.
Saturday will offer an additional opportunity for players to win Tour Cards, with play starting at 12pm in Milton Keynes.
In addition to the daily Tour Card winners, an additional 21 Tour Cards will be awarded on a pro-rata basis to players in the respective Tiers of Merit in the Final Phase after the fourth day; 12 in Europe and nine in Great Britain.
Norway’s Cor Dekker – who landed nine darts on the 2024 European Tour – takes the top spot on the European Order of Merit after a semi-final performance on Thursday with a run to the quarter-finals 24 hours later.
Dutch duo Jimmy van Schie and Mark Kuivenhoven are second and fifth respectively on the Order of Merit, with Karel Sedlacek and Max Hopp also in provisional Tour Card positions.
Brooks looks set to be assured of a Tour Card after reaching back-to-back finals, and the 24-year-old has a four-point lead at the top of the UK Final Stage Order of Merit, with Aden Kirk in second.
