DeSantis’ Pick for Rubio’s Replacement Moody Wants to Tackle Inflation, Spending, Borders: ‘Fed Audit!’
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moodywho is set to become a US senator, is calling for an overhaul of the Federal Reserve, vowing to vocally oppose government spending and saying she will fight to strengthen the border and remove individuals who enter the US illegally.
With Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., poised to soon step down as secretary of state in the new Trump administration, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Moody as his choice to replace Rubio in the US Senate.
And even with some Democrats plan to support confirmationRubio is likely to make it through a confirmation vote.
“This is my priority in the Senate: our inflation was fueled by the Federal Reserve. We must overhaul the Fed!” Moody announced in a post on X.

“As Florida’s next U.S. senator, I will work tirelessly to reduce Washington’s bloat and speak out against government spending,” she noted in another post. “As we did in Florida, this country needs to cut spending and become fiscally responsible. I look forward to working with DOGE and will work hard to leave the next generation of our country on a much stronger financial footing.”
When she talked about her role in confirming judges and justices, she specifically mentioned Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
“As a former judge, I will take seriously my role of confirming judges and justices to ensure that, like Justices Thomas and Alito, they share the values and concepts of law as our founding fathers understood them,” she said in a tweet. “I will work through the Senate confirmation process to ensure that those who are confirmed are strong candidates and know that it is their duty to interpret the Constitution as it is written.”

Sharing Moody’s announcement, DeSantis called Alito and Thomas “the gold standard.”
“In the US Senate, I will support President @realDonaldTrump and fight for legislation that strengthens the border, builds a wall, and removes those who entered illegally,” Moody tweeted.

DeSantis responded, declaring, “Make illegal immigration illegal again.”
