Steve Smith has faced an elbow injury during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25.

With Pat Cummins missing the tour due to childbirth and injury, Steve Smith has been named captain of the Australian national cricket team. However, in a blow to the team, the batsman faced an elbow injury during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25.

Smith injured his right hand while fielding for the Sydney Sixers in their washed-out game against the Sydney Thunder on Friday. He looked in pain and things did not look good for him as he walked off the field, raising tensions in the Australian team.

The injury also forced Smith not to travel with the Australian national cricket team to a training camp in Dubai ahead of the two-match series against the Sri Lankan national cricket team. A right-handed person will seek expert advice before boarding a flight.

Recently, Cricket Australia also declared Steve Smith, saying that they are hopeful that the batsman will recover and join the team soon. But there is no certainty that he will play in the series and recover in time for the series.

He said the batsman has done a great job for South Australia and has a good head on his shoulders. Speaking to The Australian, he said:
