“My sexuality is not the only reason I was in that position. But I don’t tell an authentic story if I don’t say I’m a gay and that I had real struggles to hide hiding yes.

“I hid my emotions as a young ref. I also hid my sexuality – good quality as a judge, but a terrible quality as a human being.

“And that led me to all behavior.”

He added, “I had problems about my self -esteem – and that refers to my sexuality. I am gay and struggled with the feeling that I am proud to be ‘I’ over a long period of time.

“I received deeply embarrassing abuse during my career as ref. And to add my sexuality to that would be really difficult.”

Sky Sports News Coote also received a statement.

It read: “This was one of the most difficult periods of my life. I take complete responsibility for my actions, which descended below what was expected of me.

“I am honestly sorry for any insult caused by my actions and the negative of the center of attention he put on the game I love.

“I hope people will realize that there were private moments recorded in very low times in my life. They don’t reflect who I am today or what I mean.

“My focus is now on the continuation of the priority of my mental health and well -being. I hope that my experiences, both on the field and beyond, will be in football at some point in the future.

“Finally, I want to thank everyone who has recently supported me, especially my family, friends, former colleagues, PGMOL -UI Howard Webbu and countless people across football.

“A special thank you and many foreigners who addressed the words of encouragement and support, I appreciated it more than I can express properly.”
