Commemorative Trump transit passes issued by DC Metro ahead of inauguration
As Americans flock to the nation’s capital for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has released a special public transit pass in honor of the event.
The “occasional inaugural SmarTrip Card” is a reloadable ride card that can contain up to $300 in stored value for the city’s public transportation, according to WMATA’s website.
The public transport ticket contains a photo Trump is done red background with a large number “47” behind the president-elect.

WMATA noted that tickets are sold out at the Metro Center station.
In 2017, WMATA issued a generic inaugural ticket with a sleeve featuring Trump’s face.
A WMATA spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “Since 1993, we’ve done a variety of special inauguration-themed greeting cards, with the exception of 2021 because the inauguration is a virtual event due to pandemic.”
To get a Trump transit pass, be sure to add fare (one-way fares vary from $2.25 to $6.75 depending on distance) or purchase a 1-day unlimited pass for $13.50. There will also be a $2 SmarTrip fee, according to WMATA’s site.
Some passengers have already picked up commemorative Trump tickets and listed them transit passes for resale.

On eBay, some people are listing the card for around $20, while one seller listed one card with a starting bid of $450, or “Best Offer.”
“It shows The President’s achievements and contribute to the country, making it a valuable addition to any collection,” the seller wrote in the listing’s description.
Adding, “The postcard is perfect for those interested in political memorabilia and historical collections. It’s a tangible reminder of the president’s tenure and the impact he had on the United States.”
Other trump cards are listed with starting bids of $150 and $300.
Barack Obama’s 2009 Inauguration Day subway tickets are also listed on eBay auctions – with prices ranging from $500 to $1,000.

Kristin Petersen, a travel consultant at Travelmation, told Fox News Digital visitors can stay at destinations outside the District at metro stations.
“Consider an onward destination that is close to a subway station, even that far away Vienna, Virginia“, advised Petersen.
She added: “Trains will run but be sure to check the timetable as they may change for special events such as the inauguration.”
