Colombia’s Gustavo Petro quickly returned after Trump’s threats of deportation flights
Colombian President Gustavo Petro offered his presidential plane to return migrants returning from the US on Sunday, following stern warnings from President Donald Trump.
The move came after Trump hit the US heartland with retaliation in response to Peter’s refusal to accept deportation flights. In a statement translated from Spanish, the Colombian government said the plane would help facilitate a “dignified return.”
“The government of Colombia, under the leadership of President Gustavo Petro, has organized a presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of compatriots who will arrive in the country this morning, coming from deportation flights,” the translated statement read.
