Claress Shields VS Savannah Marshall MMA Fighting could still be ‘great’, says PFL President Donn Davis | Boxing news
PFL will continue to support the second fight of Claress Shields vs Savannah Marshall, this time in MMA.
With a multitude of talent at your fingertips after the MMA Bellator, Donn Davis Chairman is hungry to make as many high matches as possible with the hybrid of traditional martial artists and those with boxing backgrounds at the world level.
The removal of the two biggest names in women’s boxing is one of many potential avenues.
“It’s hard at the top of 2024, it was our biggest year in PFL ever. But 2025. We will lead bigger fights, more fights, and we’ll make sure we do that,” Davis said Sky Sports.
“I think it would be interesting to see Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall in MMA.”
With a couple just a novice in mixed martial arts sports, only four professional struggles combined inside Smartcage, there can be limitations in potential other struggles.
“I’m very realistic, I thought [Marshall’s debut] It was okay. I think it would be interesting because both their debut was just fine. I would love to see the two of them work a little more on their craft and then fight each other, “Davis said.
“So they are realized in boxing, and you need so much that you learn another discipline. Will they both do it? Will they both fight in MMA? I don’t know, that’s on them, but I would love it. I think it would be great, Great for sports and we’re here to make it easier. “
With the rise of crossover in combat sports, some of the world’s best fighters accept new challenges.
“With due respect to Amandi Serrano, but I think Claress is the best,” Davis said.
“How much time do you take away from this success to really improve yourself in MMA? It has to be such a fire to do it, and I think sometimes it has that fire, but the box has pulled it.”
Heavyweight rivalry
Shields fights Danielle Perkins on February 2 for the WBC, WBO and IBF heavyweight championship.
Marshall expects Shields to win that fight, and he would also welcome the fight against the heavyweight category with his big rival.
“Size, I’m probably the biggest outside anyway, height, framework. The pool is so shallow, with competition. I could wear a slightly heavy, heavyweight category. That’s not really a problem,” Marshall said earlier said earlier Sky Sports.
He believes that boxing shields in a heavy category could give their advantages. Marshall added, “I did [bigger than her]. And I hope that will slow her down a little! So that’s a plus.
“It’s the biggest fight for both of us.”
