Chicago resident who sued city over migrant crisis says ‘change is on the horizon’ thanks to Trump

A Chicago resident who sued the city for his migrant crisis said “change is on the horizon” when President Donald Trump takes office.

Cata Truss, then a Chicago Democrat, urged the city to remove its own sanctuary status in January 2024 due to limited community resources.

Truss claimed she invited city leaders to sit down with her to discuss the issue, but no one was willing to talk. Now he is looking forward to the crisis being resolved under new White House leadership.

“We’re excited to see that something is going to happen, that there’s going to be a change,” Truss told “America Reports” on Tuesday. “We can’t continue to bleed money into this city the way we’ve been. However, I do have some concerns about the fact that I know city officials here are giving classes to teach migrants how to avoid ICE or how to evade ICE, actually teaching illegals how to to make them even more illegal, if you will, that worries me, but I have complete confidence in Tom Homan and our current president.”

Truss said she is confident Chicagoans are ready to “step up” and help the Trump administration deliver aid illegal migrants back home.

“We also want to make sure that those criminals who have come here to restart their criminal operations are sent home,” she continued. “Whatever we have to do as citizens of Chicago to help with that, we’re ready and willing to help.”

Truss told Fox News that most Chicagoans are “not OK with the migrant crisis,” despite what some Democratic politicians are reporting.

“Despite what you may hear from our mayor and Governor Pritzker about how the citizens of Chicago feel and where we stand, we are not happy about what is happening here,” she said. “So we’re excited that President Trump is in office. We’re excited that Tom Homan and his team are coming here to help us get out of this mess that our mayor and governor seem content to keep us in.”

Truss added that for the 2024 election, people either went out to vote for Trump or stayed home.

“Those… who stayed at home and did not appear in the elections, it was still an attack on that party, on that Democratic Party,” she said. “You had triple the number of people who didn’t show up to vote in this election. So this should tell you that people are not happy with this. Despite what you may hear our governor say, people are not very happy OK with what happened. ”

Truss also spoke about the importance of prayer for those in public office.

“One of the things I just want to say to the American people is pray for President Trump, pray for this administration, pray for this country,” she said. “I think if we’re all on the same page, you know, you’ve heard people talk a lot in the last few days about peace, about love, about protection, about the good of the country. I want us to keep those things in the spotlight as we begin to see many the things that President Trump wants to do here in America, push those mandates.”
