Celtic could sign a “very exciting” promotion for Kyog in the £11m star
Want Celtic make a statement by signing this January?
So far, the Hoops have yet to add to the squad at Parkhead during this winter transfer window, despite the fact that lesser-known squad members Stephen Welsh, Odin Thiago Holm and Alexandro Bernabei have left.
Still, Brendan Rodgers is surely keen to add some firepower to his forward line, so can Celts convince one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers to come to Glasgow?
Celtic are targeting a new centre-forward
As reported Mark Pirie of the Daily RecordCeltic could look again at Brøndby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden who ‘was on the agenda’ in the recent transfer window.
However, Scottish Premiership champions are facing competition from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt who, according to a report by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Deutschlandthey believe that he could replace Omar Marmoush, who is on his way to Manchester City for a staggering £67m.
Kvistgaarden is believed to be valued by Brøndby to a whopping £11 millionwhich would be equal to Celtic’s club record transfer feespending the same amount to sign Arne Engles on deadline day last summer.
So would it be worth it?

What Mathias Kvistgaarden would bring to Celtic
It is described as “a clinical, all-out striker” by one observerhe certainly fits the bill considering the 22-year-old has scored 38 goals in 110 appearances for Brøndby, including 14 already this season, and most recently scored a hat-trick against Midtjylland during a superb 5-1 win in Herning.
Jan Witting Wen on BlueSky notes that Kvistgaarden has achieved the unique feat of scoring against every single opponent he has faced in the Danish Superligaen, he looks likely to leave Brøndbyvester this month, but could Glasgow be his destination?
Celtic fans have been blessed to enjoy some top strikers over the last decade: Odsonne ÉdouardMoussa Dembélé and Giorgos Giakoumakis to name a few who have come and gone.
Current striker Kyōgo Furuhashi the packaging is not bad either 85 goals in only 164 appearances in hoops, but the Japanese international has been linked with a move away this month.
Major League Soccer were forced tell after by accident announcing that Kyōgo had joined Atlanta United, while in fact his compatriot Cayman Togashi had moved to the Five Stripes, with a league statement saying “MLS sincerely apologizes to the parties affected”.
However, with the striker now 30 years old, a big offer on the table could be difficult for the Hoops to turn down, so let’s see how Kyōgo and Kvistgaarden compare.

In terms of pure statistics, “a very exciting prospect” – as described by a Danish scout – Kvistgaarden has been more impressive than Kyōgo since the start of last season, scoring more goals per 90, registering more assists and finding the target with more shots.
According to FotMobKyōgo have missed 17 big chances this season, at least five more than anyone else in the Premiership, despite being the division joint top scorerwith Sam Dalby.
So surely there isn’t a Celtic fan on the planet who doesn’t think Kyōgo is a good player, s Ryan McDonald labeling him the club’s top goalscorer since Henrik Larsson, which is high praise, but Kvistgaarden is undoubtedly a top talent so, if Rodgers can convince him to sign, the club must do everything in their power to secure the Danish striker’s signature.
