Celtic could now ditch the long-term target and move towards the £10m MLS star instead

Celtic transfer news

The Bhoys have just over two weeks left to complete any transfers they wish to make before the second half of the season. Despite sitting pretty on top Scottish Premiership and an away win in the knockout phase of the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers he will still want his side to improve.

Celtic are trying to agree terms with the young gem wanted by English clubs

The Hoops are struggling to keep hold of the rising star.

However, before bringing a new player to the club, Celtic may have to face departures, as Hull City and Queens Park Rangers have done Greg Taylor transfer target. The left-back is out of contract in the summer, and while Celtic continue to negotiate a new deal, a move could materialize this month. Taylor has a positive relationship with Rodgers, which means he would be happy to stay at the club, but a move away has not yet been ruled out.

Hoops faces another potential outlet, as a young forward Daniel Cummings West Ham United and Brighton want, but Celtic are pushing for Cummings to stay and sign a new contract. The 18-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season, and given that he has scored 24 goals in 24 games for the club’s B team, it will be a major blow for Celtic.

Celtic could make a move for the £8.5m MLS star this month

Kyog Furuhashi’s future has been called into question in recent weeks and the Hoops may already have a replacement in mind, as reported by Corriere dello Sport Sport Witness, Celtic could sign Mateusz Bogusz this month in place of long-term attacking target Gustav Isaksen.

The report claims the Scottish champions remain interested in Lazio’s Isaksen, but it’s a deal that seems unlikely, as he is set to stay at Lazio until the end of the season and Celtic have yet to offer a player due to their interest in Bogusz.

Bogusz, who currently plays for MLS side LAFC, has been interested in Celtic since the summer, when they were in negotiations regarding the contract to sign the striker. The 23-year-old scored 20 goals and registered 11 assists in MLS last season and that form would make him an exciting addition for the Hoops.

Bogusz’s form in front of goal led to the player leaving with a transfer value of 2 million euros to 10 million euros (£8.5m) in the last 12 months alone. The Polish international’s ability to play anywhere across the front line and as a ‘number ten’ means Rodgers has options where he could play as a player, but his arrival would represent serious competition for Kyogoo and Adam Idaho.
