The judge sets $ 250 million for mom’s mom in Michigan accused of being alone in Squalor

On Thursday, the judge set a $ 250 million bond for a woman in Michigan, who was accused of leaving three children in a house for years where the conditions were so offensive that police evidence wore Hazmat suits.

Kelli Bryant, 34, shook her head during her first appearance on charges of abuse of children in Oakland County. Her lawyer entered her name in her name.

Three children, at the age of 15, 13 and 12, were removed from the Pontiac home last week, where they lived independently of 2020 or 2021, in the midst of garbage and feces and occasional falls of food on the porch, police said.

Defender Cecilia Quirindongo-Baunsoe admitted a “very serious case”, but said Bryant was not a risk to the community and could be released from prison with an electronic monitoring device.

Judge Ronda Fowlkes Gross, however, set an extraordinary cash bond and said Bryant was a “acute risk” for the public.

The children were hiding when police entered the house on Friday after a call from the owner, who had not been paid since October. Authorities said the toilet did not work, and the feces were found in the tub and other places. Bryant lived somewhere else in Pontiac.

“There are many reasons why they did not leave the home,” Prosecutor Karen McDonald said about her brothers and sisters. “We just don’t know that yet.”
