Captain America’s star Anthony Mackie says ‘proud American’ after a return blow
Actor Anthony Mackie, who plays Captain America in “Captain America: Brave New World,” he posted a statement explaining previous controversial comments about the character after they became viral online.
“Let me be clear about this, I am proud of the American and take a shield of heroes like CAP all my life,” Mackie wrote on Tuesday in the comments on his Instagram account. “I have the most respect for those who serve and serve our country. The drop has universal characteristics that people around the world can relate.”
Mackie posted a statement on Tuesday after he said earlier when he was on a press tour to promote his upcoming Marvel movie that he did not believe that the character should represent America.
