Afghanistan National Cricket Team’s Azmatullah Omarzai has been awarded the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024. This comes after he produced a stunning performance of 50 with bat and ball in cricket last year for his team.
Azmatullah Omarzai was the second highest run-getter for the Afghanistan national cricket team in ODIS behind Rahmanullah Gurbaz and the second highest run-getter behind Am Ghazanfar. His stunning effort with bat and ball helped the team win four of their five ODI series in 2024.
Azmatullah Omarzai has been consistent with bat and ball for his team throughout the year. He played a great role for his team during the series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. But his efforts went in vain as the Afghanistan national cricket team failed to win the series.
Azmatullah Omarzai then made sure to help his team win the series against Ireland, South Africa, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. In 2024, the all-rounder scored 417 runs at an average of 52.12 and picked 17 wickets at 20.47 in the 14 matches he played.
