Aston Villa are mulling a move for “miracle” Bayern target outclassing Malen

Despite earlier reports suggesting they were looking to sign Donyella Malen, Aston Villa they are now reportedly considering signing another Bundesliga talent ahead of the interest of rivals Bayern Munich.

Aston Villa transfer news

Those in the Midlands have been threatening to steal the headlines since the start of the year, but are yet to officially welcome a new face to the Unai Emeryfrom the side. Names such as Douglas Luiz they were even mentioned in what would be a shock return for the Brazilian just six months after deciding to leave Villa Park for Juventus.

However, the name that has attracted the most attention so far is Malen. The Borussia Dortmund man has struggled to start in Germany and could now be heading for the exit door thanks to Aston Villa this month.

However, with negotiations seemingly underway, the Villans could still turn their attention to an alternative option who has outbid Malen so far this season in Germany.

According to Caught Offside, Aston Villa are now considering signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund ahead of Bayern Munich, who are also interested in the young winger.

Unai Emery has been offered the chance to sign a top striker.

A former Manchester City academy star, Gittens could continue the trend of ex-Citizens returning to their former club by swapping Dortmund for Aston Villa this month.

Additionally, before any deal can be struck, Aston Villa reportedly need to raise the funds to complete such a deal and stay within their means when it comes to Premier Leaguerules on profit and sustainability. After all, the last thing Emery needs is for his side to be stripped of points this season.

“Amazing” Gittens is a better option than Malen

While Malen has struggled for starts and form at Dortmund this season, Gittens has enjoyed the opposite fortune. The 20-year-old has settled into life in the Bundesliga and is stealing the show at times in what is finally his breakthrough campaign in Germany. Simply put, if Villa want to splash with an attacking threat from the Bundesliga, then Gittens is their man, not the struggling Malen.

A player who can create and finish in front of goal on his own, Gittens still has a lot to offer considering he is only 20 years old and just starting to grab the headlines.

Praised for his “amazing” form Football talent scout Jacek Kulig back in December, Gittens could make the right decision if Aston Villa come up with the chance to finally make his mark in English football. Malen, meanwhile, could sit on the Borussia Dortmund bench if the Villans are left to choose between two stars.
