Arsenal target Trossard repeats with PL “monster”
After several disappointing draws, Arsenal they quietly compose an impressive form.
Mikel Arteta the team has won the last four games, and in their previous 12 gamesthey only dropped points twice in those aforementioned draws.
So while they are six points behind Premier League leading Liverpool, there is still reason for the Emirates faithful to be hopeful, although to ensure this title race goes all the way, the board must act in the transfer market this month.
Fortunately, that could happen, with recent reports linking the club with one of the league’s current stars in a transfer that could reflect Leandro Trossard move in 2023
Arsenal transfer news
According to a a recent report from Arsenal insider teamnewsanditx – via Bottom Corner – Arsenal are close to agreeing personal terms with the Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha.
However, while this could be exciting news for fans, teamnewsanditx also claim that the Old Gold will not sanction the sale of the Brazilian unless they receive a significant fee for him.
It’s not entirely clear what that fee should be, but reports over the past few weeks have suggested it it can be anything up to £90 millionwhich, if paid, would make the North London striker ‘ the second most expensive signing of all time.
It would be an expensive transfer to cross the line, but given Cunha’s ability and what’s on the line, it could be worth spending more than the ratio, and if Arsenal do, then it’s a move that will mirror Trossard’s two years ago.
Why would Cunha be Trossard repeat
So before we get into why Arsenal would want to sign Cunha, let’s examine why his potential transfer would be a repeat of Trossard’s 2023.
So the first is that it would be an attacking acquisition made halfway through a campaign where the team is chasing its first Premier League title in two decades, and while £60k-a-week The Wolves ace is a brilliant player, during the summer there was very little talk about the Gunners’ interest in him.
The other and more prominent reason it would be similar to a move for the Belgian is that the Gunners would once again go out and grab one of the most in-form strikers in the league from a non-Big Six team.
Let’s say, before the title challenger paid the Seagulls £27m for their wing star, he amassed an impressive number of seven goals and three assists in just 17 appearances for them, or scoring a goal every 1.7 games on average.
However, the only difference this time is that the former Atlético Madrid “monster”, ace dubbed by teammate Joao Gomeshe’s in even better shape than the 30-year-old was when he made his move.
For example, he scored a goal in only 20 appearances this year ten goals and four assistswhich means he is currently averaging a goal every 1.42 games.
Ultimately, Arsenal are still in the Premier League title race, and with Manchester City now firmly out of it, this year could be their best chance to go on and win for some time.
So, while it would probably require an overpay, the north Londoners should seriously consider splashing the cash on Cunha this month, as he looks more than good enough to fire them before Liverpool if results elsewhere go their way over the next five months.
