Arsenal can once again force Trossard off by signing the “unbelievable” UCL winner

Just a few days ago it looked like that Arsenal’s the season was over, but now a renewed sense of optimism pervades the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta team have Tottenham Hotspur to thank for that, as their north London rivals managed to take a 1-0 lead in Wednesday night’s derby to give the Gunners a much-needed boost.

The likes of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice looked back at their best, while Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba once again reminded the rest of the league why they are the best defensive partner in town.

Even Leandro Trossardwho has been a terrible disappointment this season, looked brilliant, scoring the winner and turning Pedro Porro into a human pretzel with some Cruyffian magic.

However, the Belgian still has a long way to go to get back to his best, but it could help him in that endeavor if the club go all out for a player who has been touted for a move to Arsenal in the past.

Leandro Trossard’s lackluster campaign

Now, while he scored the game-winning goal against Spurs and generally looked pretty good for most of Wednesday’s game, it would be fair to say that Trossard was nowhere near his best this season.

For example, as things stand, the Belgian international has a fairly mediocre value five goals and three assists in 30 appearances this season, which equates to a share of goals on average every 3.75 games.

By comparison, the former Brighton & Hove Albion star collected a haul 19 hits in 46 appearances last season and 11 of 22 during the first half of the campaign with the club, which is an average of one every 2.42 or 2.00 games.

In short, there’s been an undeniable regression for the 30-year-old this year, and while aging hasn’t helped, such an aggressive decline in production can’t be attributed to him being a year older, especially when he reminded us of what he could do against the Spurs.

So it’s logical to assume he can reach the levels of last season again, and that might be more likely if the club go out and sign a player they’ve already been linked with earlier this season: Alphonso Davies.

Why would Davies revive Trossard

Now, there are probably a few players Arsenal could sign who could get more out of Trossado, so why would Davies, who he is connected with the club again this month, be one of the best options?

Well, to put it simply, it all comes down to his utterly sensational attacking abilities.

The Canada international is no slouch in defence, but his ability to maraud down the left is arguably his greatest strength, and with the Gunners’ No.19 not being the quickest, Bayern’s star often overlapped knots would give him much more room to operate.

Opposing defenders would have to be aware of the Belgian’s incredible technical ability and close control on top of the UCL winner’s explosive running power.

What’s more, he has the strength to back up his boundless energy, as in just 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, the “incredible” full-back, as he is called football writer Jerry Mancinihe collected the catch two goals and six assistswhich equates to an impressive average – for a defender – of a goal share every 3.62 league games.

Finally, despite being only 24 years old, 56-capped international has plenty of experience and a brilliant winning mentality, which can only help the rest of Arsenal’s dressing room as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title.

Ultimately, securing Davies’ services ahead of countless other top sides this year is likely to be a challenging task, but given his sensational ability, it would be more than worth it.
