Arsenal are trying to land the £65m star in a late deal
23 days have passed since the opening of the transfer window, and as things stand, Arsenal they didn’t sign any.
However, this did not stop the rumors from accelerating, as the club were linked with a number of top strikers such as Viktor Gyokeres, Dušan Vlahović and Victor Osimhen.
That said, there is one striker who has seen his name mentioned for a move to the Emirates, perhaps more than any other in recent weeks: Matheus Cunha.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers star has been in good form this season and would likely be a great addition Mikel Arteta team, but there is another, even more promising striker, who has recently been linked with the North Londoners and would be an even better signing.
Arsenal are looking for a new striker this month
According to a recent report by journalist Graeme BaileyArsenal have maintained their serious interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šešek and are now ‘pushing’ to try and seal a deal this month.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
The report claims the Gunners have an internal valuation of around £65m for the Slovenia international and have the money to get the deal done, and have since asked the German side to name their price.
The report did not mention what that price might be, but Bailey revealed there was a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between the club and the player that any offers in the region of €70m – £59m – would be ‘at least seriously discussed. ‘
It might be an expensive transfer, but given Šešek’s incredible abilities and incredible potential, it is worth doing, especially since he would be a better signing than Cunha.
Why would Šeško be a better signing than Cunha
So while both Šeško and Cunha are exceptional talents and more than good enough to impact Arsenal’s starting line-up, there are two key reasons why the former would be the better signing this month.
The first is simple: the Slovenian is in first place when we compare their performance in the last few campaigns.
For example, in 42 appearances last season, a total of 2057 minutes, the former star of RB Salzburg scored 18 goals and recorded two assistswhich equates to a goal share every 2.1 games, or more importantly, once every 102.85 minutes.

In contrast, the Wolves star scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 36 appearances, but a total of 2772 minutes in the first team, which means that on average he scored every 1.63 or every 126 minutes.
Entering this season, the “monster” born in Radeč, as dubbed by analyst Ben Mattinsonit has already accumulated 14 goals and three assists in just 26 appearances, a total of 1,858 minutes, which means he scored an average of every 1.52 games, or every 109.29 minutes.
For his part, the former Atlético Madrid star has also upped his game this year and is currently ten goals and four assists in 22 appearances, a total of 1717 minutes, which is an average of every 1.57 games, or every 122.64 minutes.
As well as being the more productive striker, the Gunners would be wise to choose the Leipzig ace over the Brazilian due to the fact that he is still only 21 years old and is already showing that he can compete with the best goalscorers in the world.
Now, the Wolves star is certainly no old player, but according to research by The Athletic a few years agothe peak age for a center forward is 27 years.
This means that while there is still time for Cunha to improve, we are probably seeing him close to his best at the moment, which is still not enough to beat the Slovenian star, who could be getting better and better.
Ultimately, both strikers are brilliant and would undoubtedly improve Arsenal, but if the board are only going to sign one this month, then they should go all out for Šešek, as not only is he already outshining his potential rival, but he has much more time to growth.
