Arsenal are considering a big move to sign their own Kulusevski

And just like that, Arsenal are well and truly back in the Premier League race for the title.

Mikel Arteta the team went into last night’s north london derby knowing that any point dropped would effectively end their domestic season and made sure that didn’t happen.

It might not have been the best display of finishing by the men in red, but the defense and midfield were impeccable and prevented Tottenham Hotspur’s dangerous players from doing anything, especially the sensationally talented Dejan Kulusevski.

The Sweden international has been incredible this season, and although he was anonymous last night, we imagine the Arsenal faithful would be delighted to have a player like him in their squad.

Fortunately, recent reports are touting another Premier League star who has managed to match him with a move to the Emirates this season in what could be a game-changing transfer.

Arsenal are targeting a striker in the style of Kulusevski

According to a recent report from the French outlet RMC SportsArsenal are one of several clubs interested in the Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.

Apart from Topnik, it has been revealed that Premier League counterparts Manchester United and Spurs are interested in the striker and could sign the Cameroonian before the end of the month.

However, the report also claims that a ‘big cheque’ will be needed to get the Bees up for sale, just over €50m, which is roughly £42m. None of the interested parties have yet made an offer, but they have been in contact to ‘gather information’ about what might be needed to close the deal.

That claim appears to have been backed up by Arsenal insider Connor Harrison who revealed in the last 24 hours that The Gunners spoke to his agent since last summer.

It could be a complicated transfer to get over the line, but given Mbuem’s immense ability and Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements, it’s a transfer worth pursuing, especially as he’s drawn comparisons to Kulusevski this season.

How does Mbuemo compare with Kulusevski?

So before we look at some of the other reasons why Arsenal should do everything they can to sign Mbuem this month, let’s examine this Kulusevski comparison and where it came from.

It primarily derived from FBrefwhich compares players in similar positions in the Premier League this season, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each, and, in this case, concludes that the Swede is the fourth most similar attacking midfielder or winger to a Cameroonian.

We can better understand how we came to this conclusion by looking at the underlying metrics the pair rank in, including but not limited to expected goals without penalties plus assists, shots, live passes, goal-scoring actions, tackles won and more, all at 90 .

But while comparisons with a player of the caliber of Spurs ace – who else has 16 hits to his name this season – is certainly encouraging, it’s clearly not the only reason why Arteta and Co should sign the Brentford star this month.

One of the other most significant reasons is his own attacking performance, since in only 25 appearances this season the “unplayed” 25-year-old, as dubbed by Bees boss Thomas Frankhe scored a goal 13 goals and four assistswhich means that on average he scores a goal every 1.47 games.

On top of that, the “amazing” former Troyes star, as he was called by manager Thomas Frankhe can play on the right and down the middle, which could make him competition for Bukayo Saka – when fit – and Kai Havertz, ensuring that nobody’s level can drop.

After all, Arsenal are crying out to sign a striker this month, and given how incredibly well he has played this season, Mbeumo could be perfect, and their own Kulusevski to boot.
