Ange Postecoglou enters the transfer of Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Spurs were interested in a loan move agreement for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, but insisted that a concrete move is never close.

The French striker was frozen by PSG boss Luis Enrique at the end of last season. When it became clear that his immediate future would lie outside of Paris, Kolo Muani did strongly linked with Manchester United and Tottenham.

However, Juventus seem to have won the race for the versatile striker, for whom his loan should be announced soon.

When Postecoglou was told the striker’s absence was a big loss, the Australian manager’s response was blunt: “No.”

The Spurs the boss revealed that there was interest in Kolo Muani, but quickly dropped that admission. “We were in,” he told reporters Friday afternoon. “Well, it depends what you mean by ‘inside’.

“We were interested and we are looking at a number of players, but did we get to the point where we thought he would come to us? No.”

The spurs are lowered into the lower half Premier League tablebehind West Ham – the club who were recently forced to sack their manager – and Manchester United. Postecoglou has already met by goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky to north London this month, but has an eye on more additions during the tough period.

“It’s tough because all the clubs are finding it and I guess traditionally it grows in that last week so we’re getting closer to that for all the clubs,” explained the head coach.

“The club is working as hard as it can and that’s all you can ask for. January is not an easy month but I know a lot is being done behind the scenes to try and get some reinforcements.

“It’s not frustration. It would be frustration and disappointment if the club doesn’t work hard, but it does. It’s easy to say that, but I know how hard the club has worked behind the scenes to do something, but it’s not easy.

“You need an agreement from three different parties. Sometimes, when you’re in our situation, other clubs realize that and try to get the most out of it.”
