An experienced parachute spit to death despite the opening of the parachute
The 55-year-old Minnesota woman died on Friday, after a parachute incident in Eloy, ArizonaAccording to the police.
Police officers from the Eloy Police Directorate were shipped to Skydive Arizona on Taylor Street at about 4 pm on Friday after receiving reports of a parachute that experienced complications during descent.
Eloy Fire District members also responded to the scene, and when they arrived, medical staff found an individual and later was identified by police as 55-year-old Ann Wick.
Emergency crews immediately launched life rescue measures, although Wick was eventually declared dead at the scene.
Wick had about 265 jumps under the belt, Skydive Arizona said in a press release.
The company also noted that eyewitness accounts show that the free fall phase of Wick’s Skydive seemed normal, and the parachute was distributed as expected. Despite the parachute that is completely distributed, the observers noticed that “the canopy is turning,” the company said.
Witnesses said to the company that the parachute did not seem to take corrective actions, and the reserve parachute was not distributed.
“The Skydive Arizona Community is saddened by the loss of a valued member of the Skydiving family,” the company states. “We express our sincere condolences to her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
The company also said that it was fully cooperating with the local authorities to help the investigation.

Despite the death cases associated with parachutes, Skydive Arizona notes on its website that the SPRA of the parachute achieved the lowest mortality rate in the recorded history of 2024.

“According to SPEA, there were only 9 deaths in the United States, which has accepted not only the excitement of free fall but also the power of access to the community safety,” the company noted on its website on its website. “To put this in perspective, over 3.65 million jumps were made throughout the country in 2023 – the last recorded year.”
In its press release, the company stated that it remained dedicated to supporting the highest safety standards.
