2025 Ryder Cup Qualifiers: Latest standings, points for Team USA and Team Europe ahead of Bethpage Black | Golf news
The race is on to qualify for this year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, but which players are currently in the automatic spots to represent Team USA and Team Europe?
Luke Donald returns as captain for the biennial competition, where he will look to lead Europe to back-to-back victories and their first success on American soil since appearing as a player in the ‘Miracle at Medinah’ in 2012.
Europe won 16.5-11.5 in Rome 2023 under Donald but face a tough challenge and a raucous crowd in New York against Keegan Bradley’s side, who will be looking to repeat their record 19-9 success last time out in the competition on American soil.
Qualifying campaigns are already underway for both teams and run until August, ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup, which takes place from September 26-28 and is exclusively broadcast live Sky Sports.
Here are the latest qualifying standings for Team Europe and Team USA, along with ways players can earn points and move up the rankings over the coming months…
Europe Ryder Cup Team Rankings – How Do Players Qualify?
Europe has only one Ryder Cup points list this time around, whereas in previous campaigns players secured places through the World Points List – based on accumulated points from the Official World Golf Ranking – and the European Points List, which was based on points earned in the Race to Dubai ranking.
Players must be members of the DP World Tour to represent Team Europe, with the year-long qualifying campaign starting last summer at the Betfred British Masters and ending at the same event on August 21-24.
During 2024, only points were available from DP World Tour events, with a total of 1,500 points available from ‘Back 9’ events and 1,000 points from ‘Global Series’ events, with points also available to be won on the PGA Tour during the 2025 season .
Majors have 5,000 points available and the PGA Tour’s Signature Events offer 3,000, along with The Players and the first FedExCup Playoff, while regular PGA Tour events and DP World Tour Rolex Series events have 2,000 points on offer.
No points will be awarded at any events scheduled for Rolex Series events, except for the PGA Tour’s ISCO Championship, with the top six players on the list at the end of the qualifying campaign then joining the six captain’s picks to complete Donald’s team.
USA Ryder Cup Team Rankings – How Do Players Qualify?
American players had the opportunity to earn points at The Players and all four majors in 2024, and one point was also awarded for every $1,000 earned at The Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open.
The same number of points will be on offer at regular PGA Tour events in 2025 through the BMW Championship on August 14-17, with players receiving 1.5 points for every $1,000 earned in majors this year.
The top six qualifying players on the Ryder Cup Points list after the BMW Championship will make the team, with Bradley then announcing his six captaincy choices a week after the season-ending Tour Championship.
The US PGA has confirmed that LIV Golf League players will be eligible to represent Team USA at the Ryder Cup, with the Saudi-funded course added to the list of “approved tours” but not offering qualifying points.
