15 runs in 1 ball! Oshane Thomas achieves a bizarre record in BPL 2024-25

West Indian fast bowler Oshane Thomas had an unforgettable day in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25. as he conceded 15 runs in just one game while playing for Khulna Tigers. It happened during the third match of the tournament between Khulna Tigers and Chittagong Kings on December 31, 2024.

Thomas was given the responsibility by his team to bowl the first over of the innings, but he seemed to struggle to control the seam and swing of the new ball. The first ball was a short outside off ball which was hit to mid off by the striker Naeem Islam for an easy catch.

However, the referee ruled that it was not a ball as Thomas had overstepped. The next ball, which was a free kick, was a bit more complete but Naeem missed his attempt to hit it over the line. The second ball was a good length on the stumps which the batsman connected well to send over backward square leg for a six.

But things took a turn for the worse when this turned out to be another no-ball. Oshane Thomas was clearly struggling with his line and length and proceeded to bowl two big wide outside off stumps. The next ball was a juicy full toss that Naeem flicked over the line to find a four through leg. This also turned out to be a big no-ball.

Watch: Oshane Thomas concedes 15 runs off 1 ball

Oshane Thomas was in disbelief of what was happening and had his hands over his face. The last no-ball was the biggest no-ball of all. As a result, he conceded 15 runs while bowling just one proper delivery.

Oshane Thomas is coming back strong

Under pressure at that point, Thomas came back strongly and conceded just three runs in the next five balls. The West Indies quick also picked up the big wicket of Naeem Islam in the penultimate ball of the over.

Oshane Thomas may have conceded 18 runs in the over, but it felt like a better over after the way he started. But a terrible start to the over was enough to convince Khulna Tigers captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz not to bring Thomas back for another over.

Khulna Tigers registered an easy win

Although it was a bad ending for Khulna Tigers, it resulted in a great start for Chittagong Kings as they had the momentum with them. But they could not capitalize and lost wickets at regular intervals.

At 75-8, it looked like their innings would end quickly. But middle-order batsman Shamim Hossain had other ideas as he played blind after coming into the game at number 6. Hossin smashed 78 off just 38 balls and hit 7 fours and 5 sixes during the knock. But the Kings were bowled out for just 166 with seven balls remaining.

Earlier, Khulna Tigers scored 203-4 thanks to brilliant knocks by William Bosist and Mahidul Islam Ankon. Bosisto smashed 75 off 50 balls while Ankon smashed an incredible 59 off just 22 deliveries with 1 four and 6 sixes.
