Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and this series Superstar OUT of 2025 England after the BGT disaster

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to rest three key players for the upcoming ODI series against the England national cricket team. The two teams will take on each other in a three-match ODI series, which will be India’s only 50-over series before the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

According to reports in Sports Tak, it has been learned that captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and opening fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not play the three-match ODI series against the England cricket team, which will be played in February.

BCCI wants Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli rested before ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

This is because the Board of Control for Cricket in India wants Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli to rest before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played from February 19 and the Indian national cricket team will play all the games in Dubai.

The selection committee will soon make a decision on the same, and the lineup for the series will be announced soon. It is fair to say that the squad for England will be similar to the one that will play the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, barring a few changes.

Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team against England in the absence of Rohit Sharma for the England series

With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah likely to be rested for the three-match ODI series, Shubman Gill is expected to lead the Indian team against England. This is because he was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian team in the white-ball format.

But missing the ODI series against England will be a big challenge for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah to go straight back to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 without preparation. But continuous gaming might even make them harder to perform.

The trio have played cricket continuously and are currently playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As the batsmen struggled to get going, the fast bowler carried the bowling all by himself in the series and bowled it in big numbers.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in hybrid model, India will play matches in Dubai

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in a hybrid model, with the Indian national cricket team playing all its matches in Dubai. The Rohit Sharma-led side will open their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and will then take on Pakistan on February 23.

India have been placed in Group A alongside hosts Pakistan, along with India, New Zealand and Bangladesh, while Group B includes 2023 Cricket World Cup champions Australia alongside Afghanistan, England and South Africa. The two first-placed teams from both groups will play in the semi-finals.
