Quinn Ewers’ ex-Texas teammate posts cryptic message after rumored $6 million offer for transfer QB


Quinn Ewers reportedly has a $6 million NIL offer to move from Texas, but one former Longhorn seems to believe that would be a big mistake.

On3 Sports reported on Tuesday that Ewers has a huge offer for him to stay in the college ranks and enter the transfer portal instead of turning pro.

Ewers made the decision to return to school in 2024, but with a season that was below par by his standards, his military list dropped.

But Johntay Cook, who played with Ewers in each of the last two seasons, says the school would regret it.

IN responding to a report on XCook said the school would be “wasting all the money [for real].” His X account has since been made private.

Cook played for the Longhorns 2023 and 2024 before moving to Washington. He caught 16 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns in 20 games with the Longhorns.

Ewers has Texas as the No. 5 seed in the College Football Playoff and will face Arizona State in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

BOISE STATE ROLLS INTO HELP ROLE AHEAD OF CFP GAMES

Most of the questions about Texas running backs entering the transfer portal have focused on the redshirt freshman Arch Manning. On Monday, he shot down rumors that this had happened.

“I mean, I really don’t have any plans to enter the portal or anything,” said the redshirt freshman, according to Rivals. “So I really don’t know about that, all the windows and everything.”

Notre Dame was examined by ua Sports Illustrated spot as a possible landing spot for Ewers since the team needs to see Riley Leonard depart after this season. However, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman said the team has no plans to go on the transfer portal for the quarterback.

Ewers committed to Texas in 2020, but decommitted and joined Ohio State. He took just two snaps with the Buckeyes in 2021 before transferring to Texas for the 2022 season.
