Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 19

God knows what day it is today, but apparently it was a Saturday without Premier League football in the middle of the domestic calendar. The world has gone mad.

But fear not, we’ve got loads of action for you to enjoy until the New Year. So, as you say goodbye to those family members you can most certainly wait to see again this time next year, make sure you squeeze in the upcoming Premier League matchweek that stretches back to 2025.

Here’s how 90 min Gameweek 19 projects from 2024/25 Premier League season unfold.

This will be the most Saturday-like Sunday. There are six Premier League games to enjoy on the 29th. December, with two televised in the UK and four succumbing to a blackout at 3pm.

The action begins in King Power where Manchester City they are chasing only their second win in 14 games. Their unimaginable slump has left them seventh in the Premier League table and certainly without hope of continuing their dominant run at the top of the league.

We link this encounter with Kevin De Bruyne thunderb*stards, and City, with Erling Haaland being a buffer for the past month, may need a few old moments away from the Belgian on Sunday. Leicester they have lost their previous three with Ruud van Nistelrooy in charge and are struggling to contain their opponents.

Tottenham they find themselves in a realm of similar despair to the Cityzens they face Wolves in North London. They have lost their last two and are 11th in the table. The fan base will certainly start to turn against manager Ange Postecoglou if Wolves, buoyed by the arrival of Vitor Pereira, claim their third win on the bounce.

Southampton require a miracle if they are to retain their Premier League status, but there have been promising signs under Ivan Juric’s managerial bow – even if they lost 1-0 to West Ham on Boxing Day. Saints take over a The Crystal Palace a team that has achieved stability after a bad start to the season.

Everton’s the nightmare schedule has so far been wisely managed and Nottingham Forest are the next high-flyers hoping to break the stubborn Toffees. ArsenalChelsea and Man City both managed draws against Sean Dyche’s men this month.

The league leaders wrap up Sunday’s action as they travel to East London to face each other West Ham. Liverpool they are on course for the season with 93 points on their current trajectory, and can extend their nine-point gap at the top with a win over the Hammers. Julen Loptegui’s side have enjoyed a run of results, but the performances have left much to be desired.

We’ll have to wait until the evening for Monday’s action, but the three games are sure to be intriguing.

Chelsea they suffered a festive relegation and were beaten by Fulham on Boxing Day – their first loss to the Cottagers at Stamford Bridge in 45 years. The Blues must ensure that the slump does not turn into a prolonged drought, but Enzo Maresca’s side are still ahead of schedule.

They have a great chance to get back to winning ways at Portman Road as they face Ipswich a team that won only twice in the league this period.

Aston Villa did not enjoy their Boxing Day trip to Tyneside, with Anthony Gordon’s early goal and Jhon Duran’s first-half red card setting the stage for a gloomy afternoon. Will they recover at home when they welcome a Brighton side without a win in six to Villa Park?

Newcastle they have been excellent lately and have risen to fifth place in the table. Their electrical form is the opposite of that Manchester Unitedwho, after winning the Manchester derby, have lost their last three in all competitions. The Red Devils fell to 14th place with Ruben Amorim at the helm.

We get a bit of a break on New Year’s Eve, but we welcome the new year with an evening start on January 1st.

Brentford they paused over the festive period after shining at Gtech all season, with Nottingham Forest becoming the first team to triumph over the Bees in west London just before Christmas.

Thomas Frank’s team are hampered by injuries, but they face Arsenal a team that will be without Bukaya Saka for a long time after the winger underwent hamstring surgery. The Gunners are a team capable of controlling the contest from the first minute, but the quality of the final third is a concern.

Their inability to turn draws into wins could jeopardize any potential title challenge.
