The January transfer window is set to be a busy one for Man City and while the main focus will be on arrivals, a key figure could leave Pep Guardiola’s side at some stage in 2025.
The first half of the 2024/25 season. it was a nightmare for the Premier League champions as the Manchester club were punished for failing to refresh their squad in the summer.
Rodri’s knee injury has also added to their woes, which have left City sixth in the Premier League table, on the brink of Champions League elimination and Carabao Cup relegation.
The season is still salvageable, and in order to do so, Man City will have to dip into the January transfer window, which is unusual for the Premier League champions.
Martin Zubimendi is one of the main stars related to the move at Etihad in 2025, with others expected to follow.
There will also be some exits, with German champions Bayer Leverkusen reportedly tracking one of City’s brightest stars.

Among them is Bayer Leverkusen several clubs interested in signing James McAtee in 2025, reports the Daily Mailas it remains uncertain whether the 22-year-old can hold down a starting spot in Guardiola’s squad.
The midfielder has made just nine appearances for City this season, playing 357 minutes.

McAtee made a big impression in Man City’s recent win over Leicester City when the young star came off the bench and put in an impressive display, playing a part in the second goal of the competition, earning him a 7/10 rating from Manchester Evening News.
Leverkusen will look to influence the current English talent situation at the Etihad and it remains to be seen whether he will leave in 2025.
