Liverpool predicted line-up against Leicester
Liverpool continue their hunt for the Premier League title on Boxing Day when they welcome Leicester City to Anfield.
The penultimate away game of the calendar year offers Liverpool the chance to pull even further away from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, and recent form suggests the Reds will not only taste victory on Thursday, but also add to the tally.
Arne Slot has an almost completely ready team that he can choose to host the Foxes Sunday’s madmen demolished Tottenham Hotspur 6-3 will further increase the level of confidence in the red half of Merseyside.
Here’s his how Liverpool could stand in line on Boxing Day.
GK: Alisson – The Brazilian was relatively trouble-free against Tottenham this weekend, but still managed to concede three times. A clean net is far more likely against Leicesterwho remained scoreless in the last two games.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – Some of Alexander-Arnold’s passes in north London were simply sensational. The right-back assisted Liverpool’s opener with a precise cross and dazzled with his incisive distribution from distance.
CB: Joe Gomez – Much like Alisson, Gomez didn’t do much wrong against Spurs despite conceding three. He greatly impressed the talented and relentlessly forward Tottenham striker.
CB: Virgil van Dijk – No one made more tackles than Liverpool’s captain last time out, and Van Dijk didn’t go over once in the capital. He will enjoy a battle with familiar opponent Jamie Vardy on Thursday, with the Leicester forward scoring ten of 17 against the Reds.
LB: Kostas Tsimikas – Andy Robertson’s performance levels have come under scrutiny this season and the 30-year-old could be rested in favor of Tsimikas. The Greek defender played in the second half of Liverpool’s recent Carabao Cup win over Southampton, having previously struggled with injuries.
DM: Ryan Gravenberch – Leicester’s most creative influence is found in attacking midfield, with Bilal El Khannous and Facundo Buonanotte likely to threaten at Anfield. Gravenberch will be tasked with stifling them.
DM: Alexis MacAllister – Mac Allister popped up with his third goal of the season against Spurs, doubling Liverpool’s lead with an opportunistic header. The Argentinian midfielder could pull the strings from deep against Leicester.
RW: Mohamed Salah – The Egyptian took his stunning Premier League with 15 goals and 11 assists in 16 games against Tottenham. It was another breathless performance from Liverpool’s talisman.
AM: Dominik Szoboszlai – Szoboszlai often blew hot and cold, but against Spurs he was glowing. He was involved in four of Liverpool’s six goals and made some impressive runs off the attack line.
LW: Luis Diaz – Diaz ended his nine-goal run for club and country in style this weekend, collecting a well-received game-opening and closing goal. With a possible rotation on Thursday, the Colombian could be moved to the left wing after starting up top against Spurs.
ST: Diogo Jota – After three appearances from the bench, Jota could be fit enough to start for Liverpool against the Foxes. If he does, the clinical Portuguese will be licking his lips at the prospect of wreaking havoc for the second most leaky defense in the division.
