Arsenal get a welcome boost due to injuries after Bukaya Sake’s surgery

Mikel Arteta has eased fears of a long absence for Raheem Sterling, who has struggled with a knee injury injury.

Sterling left for training around the same time fellow winger Bukayo Saka suffered a hamstring injury which the boss revealed will keep it out of service for at least two monthswhich has raised concerns about the options available to Arteta.

Although the news about Saka’s injury was overwhelmingly negative, there was optimism about Sterling’s condition.

“I think the news with Razo is better,” Arteta told the media. “We probably expected the knee injury to take longer than it has developed over the last few days.

“Let’s hope that’s good news, because we need him.”

Sterling’s imminent return to form will boost Arteta’s attempts to cope without Saka. It was Gabriel Martinelli who started on the right 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Fridaybut he failed to catch the eye in the attacking trio that also included Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

After the game, Arteta backed his team to cope successfully without Saka and the good news about Sterling’s condition will only boost their efforts.
