A steady decline for the Indian skipper in ODIs
The 37-year-old has had a stellar career in limited-overs cricket so far. Rohit has so far scored a total of 10,866 runs in 265 ODI matches. But in recent years, his batting average has been on the decline. Rohit, the only player in international cricket to score a double century thrice in his career, had a batting average of in the 70s at the height of his power. However, in the 2024 season, he fell to 56.50. This may be a dream for certain batsmen, but it is a sign that the peak for the Indian skipper has surely come to an end. In the 2024 season, Rohit scored a total 678 runs in 12 games. Rohit’s last ODI century with the bat came on 12 October 2023 during a World Cup match against Afghanistan.
A happy end to Rohit’s T20I career
The only happy sight for 2024 in Rohit’s career happened in the shortest format of the game. Rohit led the team to T20 World Cup fame and had a great T20I season with the bat. Rohit played 11 T20I matches in 2024 and scored a total 378 runs including his career best 121 running against Afghanistan. Apart from this, Rohit also played some impeccable knocks during the T20 World Cup, including an unbeaten 52 runs against Ireland and 92 against Australia.
