OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Says Sexual Abuse Allegations in Sister’s Lawsuit ‘False’
Open AI CEO Sam Altman on Tuesday responded to a lawsuit in which his sister accused him of sexual abuse her for almost a decade.
Altman, along with his mother and two brothers, released a joint statement denying his sister Ann Altman’s claims.
“All of these claims are completely false,” the 39-year-old tech executive said in a statement posted on X.
The family said Ann Altman refused conventional treatment for mental health she challenges and “lashes out” at family members who try to help, which makes caring for her “incredibly difficult.”

“Our family loves Annie and is very concerned for her well-being,” the family said in a statement. “Annie receives monthly financial support, which we expect will continue for the rest of her life. Despite this, Annie continues to ask us for more money.”
Ann Altman, now 30, filed the lawsuit Monday in federal court in St. Louisa in which she said that the alleged abuse started in the family home in Clayton, Missouri, when she was three and her brother was 12 years old. The lawsuit alleged that the alleged abuse happened “several times a week.”
She claimed the abuse included “numerous acts” of rape, sexual assault, molestation, sodomy and abuse, and continued until she was 11 or 12 years old.

In March 2024, Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI claiming that it violated its founding mission as a non-profit company by creating a for-profit structure. OpenAI denied that lawsuit, which was withdrawn and refiled over the summer, and described Musk’s past agreement with the profit structure in a new blog post and legal filing.
