Mikel Arteta reveals timeline for Bukayo Saka’s recovery from hamstring surgery
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be out for more than two months after undergoing hamstring surgery injury.
While initial fears of a season-ending injury were quickly dispelledSaka was diagnosed with a hamstring tear which it was claimed could keep the winger out even three months.
After keeping fans in suspense with a “many weeks” timeline, Arteta has now confirmed that Saka will not be seen for at least two months while he recovers.
“He had an operation and everything went well, but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks,” Arteta said.
“It will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer. It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, the first week or so, and the mobility of that. It’s very hard to say.”
Arteta hinted earlier diving into the transfer market find a replacement for Shaka but, after 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Fridayhe backed up his current group of players to fill the void left by their talisman.
“The replacement for Bukaya will be the team,” he continued. “There were moments where it went well tonight and moments where you could see there was still work to do. But I’m sure we’ll do it. We have to rely on the team, not the individual.”
