Man City 2-0 Chelsea: Lucy Bronze Slam ‘effort’ on the side of Sonia Bompastor, but convinced that they can turn around | Football news

Chelsea defender Lucy Bronze claimed that her side was “Miles off IT” during a 2-0 defeat of Manchester City in the quarter-finale first part of the women’s champion champion, but insisted that the situation could be correct.
Replacing Vivianne Miedema climbed off the bench to score twice and Fire City in a commanding position in the tie, handing over Sonia Bompastor to his first defeat as Chief of Chelsea, four days after he raised the League Cup.
Blues faces the uphill of the battle in the second part to ensure an elusive first Champions League title, although the bronze is sure that they can do so when the two sides meet again on Stamford Bridge on March 27.
“I don’t think we were good enough,” Bronze said TNT Sports. “I don’t think we had enough effort in our press. We were messy in passing.
“The city were better organized. We were miles from our game. Sonia said that at halftime. It improved a little in the second half, but that is obvious when they entered and scored their goals.
“Although we are two goals down, we are completely sure that we can turn it out.
“It will be the biggest game of the season so far. It’s all still playing. We know we can score goals. We have goals all over the field.”
Despite being the first defeat since he took the post at the club, Bompastor took complete responsibility for the result, but also quickly echoed the confidence of Bronze regarding the following meetings with City in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, and in Europe four days later.
When asked about her emotions after the game, Bompastor said, “Many frustrations. For me, it is analyzing now. I take all the responsibility for performance and the result. I am hard in myself, but people expect the manager to reverse things.
“I think it’s a tough night today, and sometimes it’s happening in football. It’s okay for everyone to be disappointed, but from tomorrow we have to analyze the performance.
“It’s hard tonight, but my job is to ensure that we have a positive way of thinking from tomorrow. What you can control is in the future. We lost only one game of the season, it was important, but that happens.
“I will remain confidently enter the other leg. We have a lot of quality in the team and the freshness will be important. We have depth in the team.”
City has already set a draft on how teams can respond to disappointment after Miedema admitted to Miedema that he was “disappointed” by Nick Cushing after he passed the Chelsea in Pride Park last weekend.
City asked questions of his opponents, with 17 goals attempts in the game, but suffered a 2-1 defeat after his own goal Yui Hasegawa had sealed a win for the league leaders.
“This should be our standard,” Miedema said. “We were really disappointed after Saturday [the League Cup final].
“He was special today and hopefully we will succeed in the next week.
“We were missing a lot of players and I’m really happy to get this result because it gives us confidence and I hope we can take it on Sunday and the game next week.”
