Caroline Dubois: The British fighter says she wants to become the undisputed lightweight champion of the world by the end of 2025 | Boxing news
Caroline Dubois is looking to win every major lightweight championship in the next 12 months.
Her plan for world domination begins on Saturday, when she puts the WBC belt on the line against Canada’s Jessica Camara, live Sky Sports.
It will be Dubois’ first belt defense since becoming world champion from Inter last month.
“Jessica Camara is tough, she plays, she comes here to win,” Dubois said Sky Sports News.
“But I’m better than her. I’m a better fighter. I have more heart. I have more desire. This is not where my journey ends. This is just the beginning.”
Her goal is “to be undisputed by the end of this year.” In order to do that, Dubois must first defend her WBC title against Camara, and then look at the fights for the other belts.
Terri Harper is the winner of the WBO title, and Olympic silver medalist Beatriz Ferreira is the IBF champion. The WBA 135 lbs belt, previously held by Katie Taylor, is now vacant.
But Dubois believes that taking all those belts in 2025 is “very possible.”
She explained: “Since turning pro from amateur, pushing forward in my career, being world champion is the start for me.
“Honestly, I want to be undisputed, I want to be a multi-weight world champion. I want to do something that has never been done before in women’s boxing and I feel like I can do it.
“I have the ability, I have the skill. The important thing is to make it happen. The door has to open at the right time.
“I’m very excited about the future,” added Dubois. “Being world champion is every child’s dream and I was able to achieve it and I was very happy about it.
“I want to be a champion who will reign for a very long time and I will push for that Saturday.”
