Arne slot at the Liverpool Champions League Exit into Hands of PSG: ‘The Best Play of Football I included’ | Football news

Liverpool boss Arne slot described the exit of his side of the Champions League in the hands of Paris Saint-Germain as the “best football game” he was ever involved in.
In what was an exciting competition, the Premier League leaders were beaten 4-1 on penalties after their last 16 equalization ended 1-1 to an aggregate after a 1-0 defeat in the second part on Anfield on Tuesday.
Liverpool is comprehensively surpassed in the first leg in Paris, but escaped with the victory of the late goal of Harvey Elliott.
PSG turned the tables on Anfield after scoring Ousman Dembele and a red manager early early, admitted that his side may have used his happiness in the first part.
“It was the best game of football I’ve ever been involved in. Amazing effect, especially compared to last week. In the first 20 to 25 minutes, we were through them, they created a chance after Chance and suddenly we were 1-0 down. It was probably almost the opposite, we may have ran out of luck because the margins were so small tonight.
“After 90 minutes we felt that we deserved more than 1-0 down. I waited for us to score. I think the second half, except for the last five minutes, when they threatened us once or twice. We played the perfect game, except for scoring goals, it was for PSG last week when they played the perfect game and did not achieve us, which happened to us today.
“It’s always hard if you put so much effort, the first 25 minutes I never saw them as aggressive and so intense as they were today, and then you look at the table and you are 1-0 down, and an unhappy goal. When you put so much effort that is sometimes difficult and finally, it comes down to punishment and we, as well as Dutch, know [on penalties].
“He had everything you would like to see from a football game. From Liverpool’s perspective, at least you would like to pull out after 90 minutes, but that collapsed on penalties.
“It’s unfair to go out in this circle. You’re already at the top of the table and then face a team like PSG, but it’s also a beautiful part of football. Everyone around the world enjoyed watching this game, and the margins are small, and if you want to win, we have to be lucky, we were lucky last week, I think we had it today.
“It’s clear now what we have to do until the end of the season – those League Cup Final and nine Premier League games start.”
Van Dijk is looking in advance at the Wembley Final: ‘We need to be ready for the next challenge’
Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk urged his teammates to pull out the champions league as she looked forward to Sunday’s Carabao Cupa, Live on Sky Sports (start from 4.30pm).
Slot -v will hope that they will be deducted at Wembley and win the first silver accessories in the season while taking Newcastle.
Van Dijk said, “It was a very intense, great football game.
“Obviously it was a completely different Liverpool than what we showed in Paris, but unfortunately, it went to punishment and that is a reality.
“I told the boys, you can be disappointed because we are out of competition, defend and prepare for the next challenge. It’s beautiful for the weekend, so let’s go again.
He added, “I think we were pretty good today, and you want to go as much as possible, but we knew when we drew PSG, it would be very difficult. We saw in Paris when we fought, but we won, and today we saw a very good Liverpool side, but we are outside the competition.
“From the first second, and then the extra time, when fatigue begins on both sides, becomes more open, but especially in a regular time, we have shown a very good game. We can talk about the game for years, but we are out of competition, it is a reality.”
Carra: The best team won
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was full of praise for PSG after their victory at Anfield and thinks that she eventually won the best team in the relationship.
“The best team won”, Sky Sports Pundit said CBS.
“We saw the PSG appeared in the first leg – I called him a robbery.
“In the first 20 minutes, half an hour, I thought Liverpool would be comfortably win in this game, but they just couldn’t get that goal early, and then PSG gets it.
“For the rest of the game, he felt like NIP and Tuck, but in additional time PSG took over and we (Liverpool) hung out for penalties.
“That’s the lottery then, but PSG deserved to pass. Liverpool run out of money. It was a game of the highest level and you have to admire the shine of the opposition.”
European San Liverpool
Sky Sports’ Adam Bate on Anfield:
“In the end, there was an applause of Liverpool’s supporters, they were eager to stand with their team after their heroes this season, but PSG deserved it over two legs.
“Arne Slot’s side could be considered unhappy in the sense that Mohamed Salah missed two presented opportunities before the goal of Ousman’s Dembele, and Dominic Szoboszlai had a goal disabled by offside.
“But although Liverpool was much more impressive in this game than a week ago, that was not enough.
“Salah was under a couple and once the groove replacements did not pay off.”
“His job is to pick up these players for the Carabao Cup finals on Sunday, including Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahim Konate were injured.
“The Premier League title is expecting, but the European San Liverpool is over for this season.”
