However, Senator Bill Cassidy, R-L., Chairman of the Health, Education, Work and Pension Committee (HELP), said Chavez-Demer “is dedicated to this mission and is ready to work with the Board for help to provide a better future for all workers.”

The Chavez-Demer received the support of democratic senators during her confirmation process, including from Senator Maggie Hassan, Dn.h., who said she believed Trump’s candidate “qualified to perform the next Minister of Labor.”

The Chavez-Demer previously served as Mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon, from 2011 to 2018, before being elected to represent the fifth Congress County Congress in Midterms 2022.
