The Mjanmar Military Government says they will hold elections this year
Miller Government Head of Mjanmar said the country would hold national elections in December 2025 or January 2026.
General Min Aung Hlaing said the election will be “free and honest” – adding that 53 political parties have already handed over their lists to participate.
This would be the first vote since his military Hunt seized power in the 2021 state strike, arresting and closing the Democratic selected leader of Aung San Sung Kyi and outlining unfounded claims about fraud in the previous year.
Since then, the country has been restless, with a protest movement against Hunt, which turns into an armed rebellion across the country.
The critics described this announcement as a shame intended to maintain the power of Hunte through the proxy political parties.
Human Rights Watch, a non -governmental organization, said the BBC: “Junta is a misconception if they think the choice in current circumstances will be considered a remote credible.
“As a predecessor of the election, they need to end violence, let go of all those arbitrarily detained and enable all political parties to register and participate instead of decaying the opposition parties.”
Military Hunt made a violent suppression of disagreement from taking over power, Democracy activist executing and in the prison of the journalist.
But it struggled to contain a broad rebellion that includes pro-democracy and ethnic rebel groups, and has a limited control outside the main cities.
The UN, citing political prisoners’ assistance association (AApp), said in January that the army had been killed at least 6,231 civilians, including 1,144 women and 709 children, in the last four years.
In September, he warned that myjmar “sank into the abyss of human suffering.”
