The new Cadillac team will join the network since the 2026 season. After the F1 and FIA approved an entry supported by General Motors.
Confirmation of the entry of the Luxury brand of the American car GM Sport means that the Formula One network will expand to 11 teams compared to next year.
Last November, it was announced that Cadillac was in principle to have an agreement to join GRID as part of the revised offer of GM cooperation with the US group of TWG GLOBAL, in which General Motors devotes herself to leading his own engine with work until the end of the decade.
Before his work engine is ready to use, the Cadillac team provided a contract for the initial launch of Ferrari engine and gearbox since its first season in the December agreement.
GM founded its own company for the development of its first F1 power unit.
The short joint statement was: “Fia and Formula 1 can confirm that, after the end of their sports, technical and commercial assessments, the application of General Motors is TWG Motorsports to bring the Cadillac team to FIA Formula One World Cup from 2026.”
F1 President Stefano Domenicali said: “As we said in November, General Motors’ obligation to bring the Cadillac team in Formula 1 is an important and positive demonstration of our sport evolution.
“I want to thank GM -ui Twg for the constructive engagement for many months and I look forward to welcoming the team on the network of 2026 on what will be another exciting year for Formula 1.”
Dan Towriss is the Executive Director of the Newly Estated Hand of Twg Global, TWG Motorsports, which is already leading different entities across the World Motorsport, while British Graeme Lowdon, former Sport Director of the TIMA Marussia, Cadillac CEO of Cadillac.
