Pope, weak but stable, thanks to the well -intentioned prayers in the audio message | News about religion
Pope Francis has been hospitalized with double pneumonia for three weeks, which is his longest absence from the papacy so far.
Pope Francis has announced an audio message by thanking the benefactors around the world who prayed for his recovery, his first public sign of life since he was hospitalized three weeks ago.
The brief, two-line message was recorded on Thursday from the Gemelli Roman Hospital and broadcast believers who gathered at St. Peter’s Square on the Vatican on the night recitation of the Rosary Prayer.
“I thank you from the heart for your prayers for my health from the square, I follow you from here,” the Pope said, speaking quietly on his native Spanish, with a strenuous breath.
“May God bless you and the Virgin protect you. Thanks.”
The pilgrims gathered at St. Peter Square every night from 88-year Pontiph hospitalization February 14. Hundreds of people applauded when they heard a message.
On Friday, the Vatican said that the Pope had a “peaceful night” and woke up just before 8am.
Francis was initially diagnosed with bronchitis, but this developed into pneumonia in both lungs, demanding continuous development of treatment and stimulating alarm around the world. Double pneumonia is a serious infection that can turn on both the scar of both lungs, which makes it difficult to breathe.
The Pope has not been seen in public since he entered the hospital, and the longest such absence since his papacy of the Catholic Church chief began 12 years ago. His doctors did not say how much treatment could last.
The Vatican provides twice daily updates about its health, one in the morning and in the evening medical newsletter. On Thursday, he said that Francis was in a “stable” state for the third day in a row.
Nevertheless, “doctors still maintain a reserved forecast,” the Vatican said, because they are not sure that its condition will develop.

Francis missed the ceremonial celebration of ASH on Wednesday in Rome, which marked the beginning of Lent, a six-week period that led to Easter, but participated in his blessing in his private apartment.
During the previous hospitalization, the Pope appeared on the hospital’s balcony for his weekly prayer of Angelas on Sunday. However, he has missed the last three, and the announcement has not yet been announced whether he will appear this weekend.
On Thursday, the Vatican confirmed that older Cardinal Michael Czerny would be pledged for Francisco and leads the massive commemoration of the first Sunday of Lent this weekend.
In the last two years, Francis has experienced several patients of poor health and is prone to lung infections because he had pleuris, pneumonia that can cause sharp chest pain, as a young adult and part of one lung was removed.
Pope’s health has led to many guesses, especially among his critics, about whether to decide Answer as his predecessor Benedict XVI.
