Police have accused the teenager of eight criminal offenses, including threatening safe aircraft operation and possession of firearms.
During the appearance of teenagers in the court for minors on Friday, police claimed that he had planted a false domestic explosive and threatened passengers and crews, the Australian RadioDifuse Corporation reported.
Police supervisor Victoria Michael Reid told reporters on Thursday that several passengers had overpowered the teenager.
“There is no doubt that it would be a very scary incident for the passengers of that plane, and Victoria police really praise the courage of passengers who could overcome that man,” Reid said.
Barry Clark, one of the suspect passengers, told the local media that he had launched the action after noticing that the suspect was interfered with, while arguing with a flight of fire on firearms.
“I saw the barrel, and when I saw a complete gun, I said we were in trouble here and I saw her to her chest, so I thought, well, I have to do something,” Clark said in an interview with Network 10.
“That is all happening in a few seconds. I got quiet so quietly. He had my back, the young girl was facing me, and the gun was visible,” Clark said.
“But I knew that if I went to the side and pushed the gun from him, at least if he extinguished, he would shut down aside the plane and there was no one there.”
