Indian wells: Cameron Norrie Hammers Luca Nardi in flat sets to reach the second round | Tennis news
Cameron Norrie entered the second round of BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells while securing a 6-0 6-3 win over Luca Nardi in just over an hour.
British no. 2, who won the tournament in 2012, dominated the 21-year-old Italian whole, but especially in the introductory set in which Nardi won only eight points.
The second set proved to be a firmer competition such as Nardi – which won Novak Djokovic last year in Indian Wells – entered the committee, but was never able to threaten Norrie serving.
With the first seven games that were working, Norrie built the opportunity to break into the eighth and then serve things to finish the most convincing victory in 64 minutes.
The 29-year-old will face the Czech 23 in the second round.
British no. 1 Jack Draper is 13th seed and has goodbye in the first round. He will face his old junior rival Jacob Fearnley if a British debut can pass by the Brazilian teen star Joao Fonsec on Thursday.
Osaka knocked out | Raducan returns on Thursday
