Donald Trump awarded a car manufacturers one -month return to imports from Mexico and Canada, the White House said.
Karolina Leavitt White House secretary said the US president spoke with Stellantis, Ford and General Motors on Wednesday.
Leavitt added that the exemption would be applied to cars in accordance with the terms of the US Trade Agreement on the United States, Mexico and Canada.
“The president gives them an exemption of a month, so they are not in an economic unfavorable position,” Leavitt said.
This move comes for days after Trump’s administration has imposed 25 percent of the tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, and an additional 10 percent of the china levies.
