The Aussie hangover seems to have passed Jasprit Bumrah it did not end even after the border-Gavaskar action between the two nations reached its climax in Sydney. Australian analysts and television media still cannot get over the fear that India’s pace maestro Bumrah has instilled in the hearts of Australian batsmen and those who watch him.

A rather funny incident took place in Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 which shows that Bumrah’s shadows still scare the Aussies. During the BBL match between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder at The Gabba, Lockie Ferguson’s unconventional delivery took the Heat batsmen by surprise.
However, former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh who was in the commentary panel could not easily give up the delivery and immediately pointed out the similarity between Ferguson’s slight limp in the run-up before hitting the delivery with Bumrah’s run-up.
Ferguson has managed to astonish the batsmen in the BBL this season with this move by taking away the pace run and outsmarting the batsmen as they mis-predict the speed of the incoming delivery. Ferguson produced a brilliant spell as the Thunder clashed with the Heat in their 25th clash of the season. The 33-year-old pacer has been one of the highlights of Thunders’ pace attack this season with 8 wickets in 6 matches so far. More importantly, Ferguson has managed to keep his ERA at a remarkable 7.16, making him one of the most efficient pitchers so far this season. Ferguson previously also performed in Indian Premier League (IPL) playing for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The New Zealand national team player played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the previous season. Before the IPL auction, the franchise decided to let him go.
