Japan distributed more than 2,000 soldiers and firefighters from all over the country to fight a forest fire in a northeastern coastal city that damaged dozens of homes and forced evacuation of more than 1,200 people. The fire burned about 2,100 hectares of forest in ōfunatou since it started last Wednesday, under the fire and disasters management agency.
