Former Wapo editor claims that public ‘should be grateful’ for the press

Former Editor -in -chief Washington Post Marty Baron They said that people “should be grateful to” print for their hard work “considering Trump responsible.”
Baron talked about the work owner, Jeff Besos and his recent Changes to the Page of Opinionannouncing that it will support “personal freedom and free markets” and not publish any position that opposes these columns.
Said the Baron at Mediaite’s Podcast “Press Club” On Monday, he is “very upset” and “shocked” by that decision.
“It’s not something I predicted because my impression was that Bezos always advocated various opinions on the pages of opinion – that they should reflect the range of opinions in the country,” Baron said. “Politics are always discussed, and a news organization like Washington fasting has a tradition of wearing a wide range of opinions. It should be sure it continues. So, it stunned me and it was deeply upset.”

Despite his criticism, Baron claimed against canceling the Washington Post subscription, saying that he was still “delighted” by the news he posts and hopes to be recognized by his “discovery” President Donald Trump.
“The post actually does a job, considering Trump responsible, telling people what is happening in their government, despite all the things that happen on the pages of thought,” Baron said. “I was four years old, but I know the staff, and it’s a great staff. They are honorable people. They really work hard to collect information. Unfortunately, the victims are all that happens around them.”

Continued, “I want to bezosa and [Washington Post CEO] Will Lewis thank them publicly for the job they do, because that is why we have a free press in this country and why we need a free press. It would be nice if, instead of causing so many disorders, they would express their gratitude to the staff for their hard work and the discovered report they work. They deserve that gratitude. I think the public should be grateful at the work they do and should support it. “
The Baron also called on the outlets to neglect the claims of people like Trump that the inherited media was dead, claiming that Trump himself was “incredibly obsessed with” traditional media.

“But I will say that about the press: Trump continues to claim that we are irrelevant, and his people claim that we are irrelevant. Elon Musk claims we are irrelevant. But the truth is that we are not irrelevant. The biggest evidence is that they are so obsessed with us. If we were unimportant, we would not be so obsessed with us.
“In fact, that’s all they look like I can talk. Trump is incredibly obsessed with traditional print. So how can you both claim to be irrelevant and talk about us all the time? That doesn’t make sense.”

“I think this is a serious mistake and it has done a huge damage to the Washington post brand … I take care of the damage that the brand and the reputation of the post in the post can have greater doubts today …” Baron said on a public radio in Boston.
