Government still excludes direct conversations with M23
Despite the increasing international pressure, the Democratic Republic of Congo stands firmly on its decision not to talk to the M23 rebel group that has achieved great progress in the east of the country in recent months.
Last week, the Government of the UK added calls to make the group a part of a “inclusive dialogue” to help find the political solution of conflict.
But in an interview with the BBC, Dr. Congo Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluk said that her government wanted to negotiate with neighboring Rwanda, which she accused of supporting the M23.
At least 8,500 people were killed by the fighting escalated in January, according to the Congolian authorities.
Hundreds of thousands are also forced from their homes in the midst of chaos who have launched struggles, in which the UN -A experts see others as a key role.
“The fact remains that the aggressor of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of Congo Rwanda,” said Suminwa Tuluk, citing a UN expert report from last year, stating that between 3,000 and 4,000 troops in Rwandan transferred to the Congole territory.
The peacetime negotiations that Angola intermediary hit the Zadna last December after Rwanda requested that the Congols government was talking directly with the M23.
The rebel group then made rapid progress, taking control of the cities of Gom and Bukav in January and February.
