Slot must ditch 5/10 bloke who is “the biggest threat to Liverpool’s title bid”
For the first time in ten years, Manchester United scored two goals at Anfield. Could it be a decisive moment in Liverpooltitle fee? Maybe, but they are still way ahead of the rest.
The story going into this game was that Ruben Amorim’s men had no chance. Liverpool will rock in the middle of a snowstorm and smash their biggest rivals. That didn’t happen.
Instead, United delivered their best performance of the Amorim era yet to happen Arne Slottthis side made a small dent in the title race after a 2-2 draw.
Cody Gakpo equalized after Lisandro Martinez’s brilliant opener, and when Mo Salah scored from the penalty spot, it looked like Liverpool were going to run away with it.
That was not the case as Amad Diallo, the scorer of the late winner against Manchester City a few weeks ago, reappeared in a big way, scoring with just ten minutes remaining.
While Salah and Gakpo will receive plaudits for their displays, many others in red will not please the manager on Sunday.
Liverpool’s worst result against Man United
This was supposed to be a breeze. It was an outright victory. Oh, how wrong we were.
Man United was written off, but to their credit he was brilliant, especially as he created various problems Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right back.
He was a member of the English national team lately linked with Real Madrid but as Roy Keane said on Sky Sports, this was a performance that more justified a move to Tranmere Rovers.
Alexander-Arnold was caught many times when Martinez scored from his side of the pitch.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old dribbled past twice, failed to make a precise shot and he also failed to win a single duel. It’s not ideal.
Curtis Jones was another who “really struggled” according to Gary Neville on commentary. Subtracted just after the hour mark, he did so without making a key pass, shot or attempted a single dribble. The figures did not make for good reading.
However, there was another player, someone who could cost Liverpool the title if he continues to play like he has this season.
Andy Robertson’s performance in numbers
The Scot has been a brilliant servant to Liverpool, mostly throughout the Jurgen Klopp era. He will go down as a Reds icon when he finally leaves, and unfortunately it has to be soon.
If he stays longer, he could damage his legacy at Anfield. He is played 321 times for Liverpool but if they are serious about winning the league, they must ensure that too many games are not added to that tally.
I like it Miloš Kerkez and Antonee Robinson both are linked and would no doubt be an upgrade on the 30-year-old who is a shadow of his former self.
As European football expert Zach Lowy said, became “the biggest threat to Liverpool’s title push” and he showed as much against United.

Robertson lasted the full 90 minutes, but completed just two of his six crosses, won just one of four duels and handed the ball over 11 times from 58 touches.
It was the Scotland international who didn’t get close enough or react quickly enough to close in on Amado for a late equaliser, his problems compounded when he fed Ryan Gravenberch a horrendous pass that bounced out of play as Liverpool tried to mount a late strike for the winner.
Charlie Gordon of the Express rated the player 5/10he singled out the “costly mistake” for his part in Amad’s goal as the defining moment of Robertson’s afternoon.
For a long time, the two full-backs were incredibly reliable for Liverpool, but this was a game to forget for both. While Trent is likely to go, Roberson has to go as well. A younger alternative is needed.
