The authors also ask participants to judge whether real life incidents are racist, for example, when President Trump 2017 told NFL to “get that son B —- on the ground”, referring to NFL players who kneel anthems, following the example of former San Francisco 49ers striker Colin Kaepernick.
The authors recruited 127 people, at the age of 35-59, from different social classes and regions of the country to participate in their research for the book. Leondar-Wright said she would not have expected someone with Alice’s beliefs to take such a strong stop against racism. She found this conversation and others, “encouraging.”
“I think there are a lot of racism and racial inequality in our society and a lot of gender inequality. And so I would like to help move people in the direction of watching these patterns and inequality,” she told Fox News Digital. “I ended up a lot less hopeless about how much it was possible than I was when I started.”
