But others, including GOP Senator Paul Cicarella, challenged that Smith should be left under care at the hospital.
“Murder and cannibalism and letting go of the same punishment. That’s a problem. That’s concerned with me,” he told WFSB.
Cicarella and colleague Republican State Sens. Henry Martin, Heather Somers and Stephen Harding called the decision “unheard of” and “fall”.
“This individual killed and ate part of his victim and was found guilty of madness,” said MPs in the statement. “The family of his victim has launched complaints about his release. What about them? Where’s justice for them? This terrible decision brings public security in danger and is another terrible message to send CT victims of violent crime and their families. This person never should be outside.
