Fire at Busan Resort Construction Stands 6
At least six people were killed and 25 other injured on Friday at a firewall for a luxury hotel in Busan, a port city in Southeast South Korea, fire officials said.
Fire officials received the first report at about 10:50 in the morning, a local fire time, which obviously broke out in a pool pool on the ground floor of a 12 -floor building. said Hong Moon-Sik, Gijang Fire Chief.
Fire officials said the hotel is Banyan Tree’s hotel.
The fire quickly spread, and the dark smoke broke out of the building by the time the rescuers arrived, head Hong told reporters. Six people who died were found unknowingly in the pool area, where the insulating material was set on fire, creating black money that made it difficult for evacuation, he said.
The injured people were found in the entire building, which has three cellar levels, except 12 stories, said Chief Hong, and emergency officers were saved by 14 people from the roof. The fire was supervised at 1:30 pm, according to fire officers.
Hundreds of firefighters and more than 120 fire trucks were deployed to the scene, according to fire officers.
“The cause of a large number of casualties was that the fire had already spread to the moment we arrived at the scene,” said Hong chief outside the construction site.
He added that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
The hotel is owned by Banyan Group, a Singaporean company. The company did not immediately respond to the comment request. The hotel was should open this yearand the construction was almost complete.
