Six nations: Ireland locks Tadhg Beirne and Garry Ringros to new contracts | News of rugby


Ireland Internationals Tadhg Beirne and Garry Ringrose have signed an extension of the contract with the Irish rugby to the Football Federation.

Captain Munster Beirne has arranged a new two-year contract that runs until the 2027 World Cup in Australia, while the Leinter Center Ringrose committed until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Beirne, who can act in the second row or on the side, has 58 international caps after helping her country start defending the Guinness Six Nations title with victories over England and Scotland.

He represented British and Irish lions against southern Africa in 2021 and was one of the four Ireland -appointed players in the Men’s World Rugby team for 2024.

“It is a source of great pride to represent Ireland and Munster. I am delighted to continue to do it in the foreseeable future,” said the 33-year-old, who debuted the test against Australia in 2018.

“I am extremely excited about the future and I will do my best to hope for our incredible supporters during the next season.”

The Ringrose went off the bench on Sunday during Irish success 32-18 in Murrayfield to ask for a 65th test cap after the previous weekend began a 27-22 over England victory.

“I am delighted to have extended my stay with Leinster in Ireland and I am extremely excited about the future of Irish rugby,” said the 30-year-old, who opposed his international debut against Canada in 2016.

“With some huge tests descending on the club and international level, I believe that bright days come and I look forward to playing my role as we strive to hope for even more success.”

IRFU Director David Humphreys described both players as “talents” world class.
